The first 'episode' opens with oscillations of ambient dissonance, with some trance-like tones dancing atop, possessing a sense of understated majesty. The following episode follows a similarly sparse template of tones tinkling above an ambient substrate, but without the subdued grandeur. This motif is departed form only in the sixth episode, which descends into minimalist drone territory. As if to counterbalance this, the succeeding episode returns to the motif described before, but with electronic effects not so much dancing above as dominating, as if to counterbalance the emptiness of its predecessor. The final episode is dominated by a rumbling drone that acts as an effective closer for the album.
Hokano's particular brand of minimalist ambience sits comfortably alongside recent releases by Bisclaveret and Silence & Strength.
The tracks are fairly varied in terms of effects used, but the mood remains constant. Nonetheless, it remains a satisfying and acceptable entrant to the post-industrial universe.
